Who am I ?

Hello, I am Richard Hoogeveen and welcome on my site. I live in the Netherlands, Europe.

From childhood I have been busy with electronics.

I studied airplane electronics and technology at the Anthony Fokkerschool in The Hague. A highly regarded school that delivered well qualified people mainly to the aircraft industry.

I became a trainee at a company that just started to develop electronics for telecommunication purposes and for the measurement and protection of high voltage networks throughout the province South Holland of the Netherlands (grid). After a year as a trainee I was permanently accepted into a job. I followed many other technical courses and we were allowed to work with al kind of productions and development processes.

This could be CPLD/FPGA chip designs, pcb design, from digital and analogue simulation to operating pick and place machines for our own production line. We also developed our own system cabinets and performed many measurements on our systems for the desired approvals. The equipment has therefor proved to be very reliable. After about 10 years I decided to switch to IT. I still work in the IT, but never dropped my real profession and I have always continued working with these techniques.

Many of these techniques have now become affordable for the hobby and I have also embraced many new developments like IOT, Raspberry, Arduino but also techniques from the past like tubes and nixies tubes. I have the sometimes difficult feature that I want to master and use all my energy to get something done.

The products and projects you see are therefore the product of many hours of research, designing, testing and building. I like to think out of the box and I like to combine techniques that you will not always see on the market.

Have fun on the site and when you are curious, do not hesitate to contact me.
